Thanks so much for this. I appreciate your reporting.

I am one of the millions trying to figure out how I am going to keep up with things now that Twitter is dying, and substacks seem to be the way to go - provided I can keep up with them! (And not to mention, provided I can figure out which ones to pay for)

Great idea. Maybe look beyond North America too.

I haven't seen a ton of non-North American Substacks. I'll be on the lookout! (If you've got suggestions, I'm keen.)

Justin, not being biased, you can make your own decision. My son is York grad Doc film maker and editor, originally based in Toronto and who worked on award winning films in North America. He is a Canadian permanently in Prague due marriage. He briefly worked as a reporter in Europe but for several years now runs his own company as copy Editor | Kismet Proofreading and Editing Service and for as long as I remember has publishes an opinion blog and for sometime on Substack. Recently he opened his space to others to publish. He writes under https://edgeofempire.substack.com. His wife, a phD human geographer and researcher is heavily engaged in climate change issues and activist activités. She also writes regularly but usually in Czech.

Of course you're biased: He's your son! But this looks like some really interesting stuff, I just signed up. Thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking forward to reading.
